Observant neighbors and proactive police work led to the arrest of two teenagers for various weapons violations.

Shortly after 1AM on April 1, 2015, officers responded to a call for shots fired in the Brook Valley neighborhood. Several residents reported seeing two teenagers shooting at street lamps from their vehicle. Officers quickly arrived on scene and discovered a house on Marylebone Circle had been struck by gunfire. No one was hurt in the incident. Officers immediately began patrolling the area for potential suspects.

Within minutes of the initial call coming out, officers located a suspicious vehicle in the neighborhood and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle was occupied by 19-year-old Gregory MacLeod, of Greenville (driver) and 19-year-old Ian Sayers, of Greenville (passenger).  Officers noticed two long guns in the car in plain sight. They were determined to be a single shot 410 shotgun and an SKS rifle. Upon further investigation, the two subjects admitted to shooting a gun, but stated they were shooting at street lights and did not intend to hit a house. In addition to the two guns in the car, officers located a third gun hidden in some nearby woods.

Both MacLeod and Sayers were transported to the police department where they were interviewed by detectives. It was determined the guns in the car were stolen two days prior from a residence on East 2 ^nd Street.  Probable cause was developed to believe that Gregory MacLeod was responsible for the break-in. All of the stolen property was recovered.

Breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, larceny of a firearm, discharge a weapon into occupied dwelling, possess stolen firearm, injury to real property, and discharging a firearm within the city limits.

Ian Mitchell Sayers, 19

BOND: $50,000

CHARGES:
