UNC Board Approves ECU Millenial Campus
The concept will be an economic boost to the region
The UNC Board of Governors approved a proposal by East Carolina University on Friday to establish a designated Millennial Campus in four separate sites based on their proximity to existing campus academic, health science, athletic and human performance activities, Greenville historic and arts districts and the Tar River front.
The board met in Greenville Thursday and Friday on the ECU campus. The Millenneial Campus concept was debated in the budget and finance committee on Thursday and received unanimous support from both the committee and the full board when it voted on Friday.
The Millennial Campus concept has been successfully used by other campuses in the UNC system. The proposed ECU Research and Innovation Campus (ECRIC) would have a unique and extensive geographic footprint that would enhance economic and community development for both Greenville and the region.
